Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Hit-Run Driver On Busy East Farmingdale Roadway

A 41-year-old man is hospitalized in serious condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Long Island, police said.

The incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25 in East Farmingdale.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, a white sedan was traveling east on Main Street in East Farmingdale when the driver turned right onto southbound Route 110 and struck a man who was crossing the roadway from Great Neck Road toward Main Street.

On Thursday, May 26, investigators announced that the man struck by the sedan was East Farmingdale resident Benedicto Lopez-Ramirez, who was listed in serious condition at Stony Brook University Hospital after being airlifted from the scene of the crash, police said.

The driver - who has not been identified - fled the scene after striking Lopez-Ramirez south on Route 110.
