Thanh Le, age 50, was sentenced to three years of probation and two years in the House of Correction, suspended for a probationary term of three years, the office reports. This came after he was forced to undergo a mental health evaluation. The crash apparently happened while Le was on probation for earlier offenses, the office reports.

“Less than two weeks ago we recommended incarceration for Le because his aberrant behavior posed an immediate and ongoing threat to the Fields Corner community. The presiding judge disagreed," District Attorney Kevin Hayden said. "Now, less than two weeks later, Le is back in court after an extremely dangerous high-speed chase."

A Massachusetts State Trooper spotted Le driving the wrong way on an exit ramp of I-93 in the area of Morrissey Boulevard and Freeport Street in Dorchester on Tuesday morning police said. The vehicle's license plate revealed that it was reported stolen during a carjacking that occurred in the area of St. Williams Street and Dorchester Avenue on June 7, the office reports.

Le, who was wearing a ski mask and sunglasses at the time, later drove onto a curb and caused a four-car crash. He refused arrest, tried to flee on foot and even pointed a glass pipe at the Trooper while concealing his other hand in his pocket, the office reports. Le was transported to an area hospital after being taken into custody, the office reports.

Le's arrest came less than two weeks after he pleaded guilty to a five-month Fields Corner-area crime spree, the office reports. The carjacking remains under investigation. His bail hearing is scheduled for July 5, the office reports.
