'Trailer Park Mouth' Singer From Eastern Mass Slays 'American Idol' Audition

A Massachusetts resident with a self-proclaimed "trailer park mouth" just barely made it onto a national singing competition after nailing her rendition of one of the judge's songs.

Sierra Harris said her trailer park attitude came from her upbringing in Lexington during her "American Idol" audition last week.

The 20-year-old walked in front of judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Brian holding a spoon as a microphone in hopes of "scooping up [her] talent and throwing it at [them]."

Harris began her audition by singing "Barracuda" by Heart but when the panel appeared less than impressed, one judge redirected the self-proclaimed "tough cookie."

"Can you sing 'Firework?'" Perry asked. It was Harris' rebuttal that landed her a spot on the show, but not without some constructive feedback from the judges.

"Your voice is not your party trick anymore,” Perry told the singer after comparing her audition a karaoke performance. “Your voice is your purpose.”

"I think if you apply a lot of stuff real quick, you're going to do real well," Bryan added.

After getting three "yeses," the Lexington native will move onto the show's Hollywood week. You can watch her full audition here.
