Shocker: Man Out On Bail For Gun Charge Busted Again On Gun Charge In Springfield

A Springfield man with a lengthy criminal history who was out on bail for a firearms charge was arrested on Tuesday, May 23, on another weapons charge, authorities said.

David Beadle and the gun police said they found on him when he was arrested Tuesday, May 22. He was out on parole for a previous gun charge, authorities said.

David Beadle, 28, faces charges of convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, improper storage of a gun, firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes, Springfield police said.

A judge ordered him held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, officials said.

Police previously arrested Beadle and two others — all were armed — in May 2020. A judge initially set his bail at $25,000 in that case, but that was later reduced to $2,500, which he posted and was released.

Since then, police have arrested Beadle three more times, once for a probation violation, authorities said.

Springfield Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood said she hopes Beadle's dangerousness hearing will allow for him to be held in jail until his trial.

"It is just astounding that this suspect who has quite a lengthy criminal record is arrested now three times while his illegal firearm case is pending and just now he is considered potentially dangerous," Clapprood said in a news release. "This suspect has no regard for the law or the safety of our citizens, and we’ll be paying attention to see if he is held."

Beadle has been convicted more than 10 times on charges ranging from armed assault to rob, breaking and entering, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police said.
