Erick "Alford" Garcia was celebrating the holiday on the water off Shannon Beach in Winchester when he fell off his boat sometime in the evening, according to a GoFundMe created in his honor.

Initial investigation revealed Garcia tried swimming back to shore but got tired and began to struggle in the water, Massachusetts State Police said.

Witnesses tried rescuing Garcia but were unable to find him. Garcia inevitably drowned and his body was found the next day.

This tragedy struck Garcia's family especially hard who are now seeking donations to cover his funeral costs, bills, expenses and means to support his wife and kids.

"My Dad was the light of our lives and if you were lucky to know him you knew how genuine he was," his daughter Erika wrote on the GoFundMe page. "We are completely heartbroken."

The campaign is looking to raise $100,000. People can donate by clicking here.
