Fabieri "Fab" Fabert had just graduated from Everett High School and was planning on attending Merrimack College in the fall, Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria said on Facebook.
"He was a standout football player with the Everett High Crimson Tide and by all accounts he was the most popular, loved and respected student and teammate you could ever hope for," DeMaria said.
Unfortunately, Fabert drowned after jumping off a high rock at Vernon's Pit in Gloucester on Wednesday, June 22. His sent shockwaves through the Everett community from administrators to friends.
"Our heartfelt thoughts remain with Fab’s family and loved ones," Superintendent of Everett Public Schools Priya Tahiliani said in a statement. "I ask you to join me in extending our deepest condolences to Fab’s family, friends, teammates, and teachers."
Those closest to the young man remembered him for his infectious positive energy, reliability and dedication to others.
"He was the kindest, most respectful student," said Stacy Poste Schiavo, Fabert's seventh grade teacher, according to DeMaria's post. "When people speak of Fab, you will hear and read about his smile! YES- It actually did light up any room he walked into."
"You could count on him," one of Fabert's teammates said. "I know when I go to college, I know I'm going to be thinking of him all the time. Every play is going to be for him, I'm going to give my all for him."
Everett High School was offering additional support to students in response to the incident, which remains under investigation by authorities.
