At the site of the old Fat Cats in Springfield, a new bar and restaurant, Dewey’s Jazz Lounge is opening in the near future.

On Tuesday, Dec. 29, owners posted to Facebook that Dewey’s Lounge is expected to be opening on Worthington Street in a “few short months.” An opening date will be sometime during the spring.

The new restaurant and bar will be very different than Fat Cat’s no-frills bar and pool hall with $1 beer nights.

Dewey’s owners said they have been doing serious renovations to the space since Dec. 6.

“Dewey’s will offer a comfortable and energetic space with a full bar, restaurant, and live music for everyone to enjoy,” owners said on Facebook. “We’re grateful to those of you who have already shown your excitement and support - we can’t wait to see you in a few months.”

The restaurant is co-owned by Kenny Lumpkin, a Western Massachusetts native, and Dr. Mark Markarian, a Boston plastic surgeon.
