Earlier this year, applicants went before the Planning Board in Westfield seeking a special permit for property at the Westgate Plaza on Route 20 (East Main Street).
The applicant, Brixmore SPE, is representing ALDI grocery store. ALDI is a discount food seller that specializes in store-brand organic, allergy-sensitive, and whole foods.
If plans are approved, an ALDI will construct a new building between the TJ Mazz and Taco Bell, according to submitted plans.
ALDI markets have been springing up in Massachusetts over the last 5-10 years. There is an ALDI in West Springfield, Natick, and Milford.
