As the weather heats up, so does the pressure for the SPCA of Texas, an animal shelter currently overrun with pets. The busy shelter received a helping hand from the MSPCA and Northeast Animal Shelter, which welcomed dozens of cats on Saturday, March 18.
“As the weather gets warmer, shelters will likely see an increase in how many cats and kittens come in, so it’s important to free up some space there, while getting these cats here where we’re confident they’ll find new loving homes," Jamie Garabedian, NEAS assistant director of operations said.
The cats, whose ages range from six months to eight years, are just a fraction of the pets welcomed to Massachusetts through a relocation program that brought 4,000 pets to Massachusetts in 2022.
The new feline New Englanders will be available for adoption after completing their state-mandated 48-hour quarantine and and necessary medical care. Potential adopters can get more information here.
