At approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, detectives were conducting a joint investigation at a home in the 700 block of Middle River Road when they came upon a suspicious device that was potentially an explosive, police say.

The situation forced a road closure on Middle River Road between Compass Road and Biggs Road for more than an hour while the Baltimore County Police Department’s HazMat team investigated.

Following the investigation, it was determined that the device was not a threat, and the scene was later cleared.

“Since this matter remains part of an ongoing investigation, we are limited in the information that can (be) provided),” a spokesperson for the department said.

The investigation forced a nearby school to enter a lockdown as a precaution.
