A dangerousness hearing was held for Jacob Grice, 35, on Friday, Aug.14. He was deemed too dangerous to be released.
Grice is being charged in connection with the shooting death of Darren Dyette, 31, of Boston on Aug. 3, according to the Worcester District Attorney. The charges are assault and battery by firearm, assault, and battery by means of a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, unlawfully carrying a firearm, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, possession of ammunition with a firearms identification card, and trafficking in a Class B substance, the District Attorney said.
Grice’s lawyer argues that since Grice hasn’t been charged with murder and police officers using video surveillance to identify the shooter were unable to procure a still of Grice with a gun in his hand. He also noted that Grice didn’t flee the crime scene and interacted with detectives there.
This did not sway the judge. Grice will be held in jail until his next court appearance on Sept. 11.
