Western Mass Nurse Admits To Stealing Fentanyl From Critical Care Patient
A Western Massachusetts nurse has admitted to stealing fentanyl that was being administered to a patient in a hospital's critical care unit.
Berkshire County resident Jessica Lotto, age 36, of Pittsfield, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, May 31, to one count of acquiring a controlled substance by fraud, deceit, or subterfuge, according to an announcement from Rachael Rollins, United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.
She was charged in November of 2021, Rollins said.

A 22-year Western Mass man was killed after allegedly being shot by police after advancing on officers with a knife in his hand, police said.
The incident took place in Berkshire County around 10:10 p.m., Friday, March 25, in Pittsfield, said Andrew McKeever, spokesman for the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
The incident began when Pittsfield Police responded to 279 Onota St. around 10 p.m., Friday after receiving 911 calls from multiple callers requesting assistance, McKeever said.

Man Killed In Head-On Berkshire County Crash
A Western Mass motorcyclist died after being involved in a head-on crash with another vehicle.
The crash took place around 10:54 a.m., Monday, June 7, at the intersection of East Street and Newell Street in Pittsfield, said Lt. Michael Maddalena of the Pittsfield Police.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting in Western Massachusetts, officials announced.
Berkshire County resident Edward Jennings, of Pittsfield, was arrested on Tuesday, April 20, and charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of local resident Lemond Grady, age 39, who was shot and killed on North Street.
