Doctors have diagnosed a person at UMass Boston’s campus with active tuberculosis, with 39 people having possibly been exposed to the potentially fatal virus, officials said in a school-wide letter on Monday, Nov. 6. Diners who visited a Mexican restaurant chain may have been exposed to Salmonella, officials say. Two locations of Los Amigos Taqueria, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain, were closed after a health inspection on Thursday, May 18 revealed several "critical" health violations, according to the City of Boston and the Boston Public Health Commission. Boston Public Schools Ask For Temporary Mask Requirement: Officials
Students in Boston will likely be donning an item of protection in addition to hats and gloves for their first school day in 2023, school officials say. Boston schools are requesting that students and staff temporarily wear masks for the first eight days of spring semester "to keep students healthy and minimize staff absences during this high-risk period," according to the announcement on the Public Schools website. Boston School Employee Tests Positive For Monkey Pox: Report
An employee of Boston Public Schools tested positive for monkeypox, a news report said Monday, Sept. 19. The first known case for the school system. NBC Boston reported the school system wasn't releasing the school where the employee worked or their job. Though, officials contacted parents at that school about the situation.
