CT Tractor Trailer Driver Killed After Truck Hit Telephone Pole

A Connecticut man died after his tractor-trailer veered off the road and struck a telephone pole, authorities said.

Jeffrey Vincent Benis, 55, of Windsor Locks, was driving a Mack 600 truck when it left River Road in Willington just before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, according to Connecticut State Police.

It's unclear what caused the truck to leave the roadway.

Paramedics rushed him to Rockville General Hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead.
