Milford officers responded after a man called to report the woman was unresponsive at the on Boston Post Road motel in Milford. He told police she had taken narcotics the night before and may have overdosed, police said.

Milford police said they found “white long pill shaped bars consistent with Xanax, numerous containers of unlabeled pills, and a box of a powdered white substance resembling crack cocaine” among her belonging. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said the death “appeared to be drug related.”

Police did not release her name.

Text messages on the victim’s phone led detectives to 43-year-old Gerome Eldridge of Bridgeport, who was staying at the Motel 6 on Schoolhouse Road.

Police arrested Eldridge in the parking lot and found opiates, cocaine, Xanax pills, packaging materials, drug scales, 12 phones, and over 23 grams of suspected marijuana in his car and motel room.

Eldridge was charged with illegal distribution of narcotics, possession with intent to sell narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, operation of a drug factory, and narcotics not in original container.

He was held on a $100,000 bond and brought to Milford court.
