A Connecticut woman is accused of stealing a family heirloom from her employer’s home in Westchester County, NY — a ring that police said was later melted down before it could be recovered.
Fairfield County resident Joise Cabral-Rosa, 30, of Bethel, was arrested on Thursday, April 2, following an investigation into missing jewelry reported earlier this year, the City of Rye Police Department announced.

Cold Case Bust: Man Caught In 1989 Kidnappings Of CT Woman, 11-Year-Old
A 53-year-old man has been linked to two kidnappings that occurred in 1989 in Fairfield County, Connecticut, closing a 36-year mystery for prosecutors.
David Vincent Coffey, of New Britain, was previously tied to the April 23, 1989, kidnapping and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in Danbury, police said. Now, investigators say he is also connected to the abduction and sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman from the same Danbury home in January 1989.
Both victims were reportedly taken from the same residence on Peace Street, according to News-Times.

Four men accused of breaking into multiple Long Island homes are behind bars.
The break-ins occurred in Garden City between Dec. 10 and Dec. 20, 2024, with the suspects forcing their way through sliding doors and windows, Nassau County Police said.
Once inside, the group stole cash and jewelry before fleeing in luxury SUVs, according to police. In one case, they burglarized a Brook Street residence, stealing jewelry and $1,000 in cash, police said.
