3 Escape New Canaan House Fire Without Injury Three people were able to escape a Fairfield County house fire without injury. The fire occurred in New Canaan on White Shade Oak Lane around 11:40 p.m., Monday, April 8. According to Jill Stayman with the New Canaan Fire Department, the fire started at the rear of the two-car garage and extended into the attic area above it. The three occupants in the home were alerted to the fire when the smoke detector was activated. Worker Killed After Truck Crash In Fairfield County An investigation is underway after a landscaping truck fatally struck a company employee in Fairfield County over the weekend. Police responded to the crash in Wilton at 77 Danbury Road (Route 7) at about 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, according to the Wilton Police Department. The Wilton Fire Department and Wilton EMS also responded to the scene. Authorities found that the truck had run over an employee of the landscaping company, and the employee was trapped under the truck. Horse Barn Fire Breaks Out In Fairfield County No horses were injured when a two-alarm horse barn fire broke out on the land of a private residence in Fairfield County. The blaze broke out around 5 a.m., Monday, Jan. 24, in New Canaan, on Silvermine Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found the three-stall barn with a hayloft fully engulfed in flames,  said Assistant Fire Chief Albe Bassett, of the New Canaan Fire Department.
