Filed on Wednesday, Aug. 12, the three plaintiffs are hoping their complaint becomes a class action lawsuit. The plaintiffs are critical of Eversource executives’ preparations for the storm and the company’s response to mass power outages across Connecticut. Some people lost power in their homes or businesses for more than seven days. The $1.5 billion is meant to compensate people for lost food, medicine, and income due to the outage.
“They knew it was coming up the coast, they had more than enough notice, they didn’t do anything about it,” said lead attorney Edward Jazlowiekci to WFSB.
Eversource has said it is not responsible for losses due to power outages that resulted from Isaias and asked people to contact their insurance companies to be compensated for losses or damages.
