1 Rescued From CT River After Kayak Capsizes One person was rescued from a Connecticut river after their kayak capsized as dusk approached. The incident occurred in New Haven County around 7:50 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, in the Quinnipiac River in North Haven. According to North Haven Fire Chief Paul Januszewski, the department responded to the river for the report of a kayak that had capsized with people in the water.  Another 911 call was placed and answered by Hamden, resulting in both North Haven and Hamden fire departments responding to the Quinnipiac River.  North Haven firefighters deployed a boat from a launch on Sacke…

ID Released For CT Kayaker Who Drowned While Attempting To Reach Lost Paddle State officials have released the name of a Connecticut man who drowned while attempting to reach a lost paddle while kayaking. The incident took place in New Haven County in Guilford on Quonnipaug Lake on Sunday, May 23. Police Save Two Kayakers Being Swept Away By Current Off Fairfield County Coast Two kayakers whose vessels overturned and were being swept away by the current were rescued by a Fairfield County police marine unit. The incident took place around 12:40 p.m., Monday, Jan. 18, in the Town of Fairfield. The Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a kayaker on the Long Island Sound requesting assistance after he and his friend’s kayaks overturned and were swept away by the current.  According to Sgt. John Reynolds, age 58, of the Town of Richmond in Berkshire County, died Thursday, Dec. 9 at Berkshire Medical Center after his kayak overturned in Richmond Pond.
