1 Rescued From CT River After Kayak Capsizes One person was rescued from a Connecticut river after their kayak capsized as dusk approached. The incident occurred in New Haven County around 7:50 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, in the Quinnipiac River in North Haven. ID Released For CT Kayaker Who Drowned While Attempting To Reach Lost Paddle State officials have released the name of a Connecticut man who drowned while attempting to reach a lost paddle while kayaking. The incident took place in New Haven County at Quonnipaug Lake in Guilford on Sunday, May 23. Kayaker Dies After Overturning In CT Lake A missing kayaker died after his vessel capsized while he was reaching for a lost paddle, authorities said. The incident took place in New Haven County in Guilford on Quonnipaug Lake on Sunday, May 23. The missing paddler, an adult male, was recovered from the water by the Guilford Dive Team and CPR was administered, said Will Healey, spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
