WILTON, Conn. – Wilton High School senior Casey Pearsall has been named the High School Athlete of the Year by the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance and will be honored at the group’s Gold Key Dinner in April.
Pearsall and Ansonia High football player Arkeel Newsome were named the winners of the Hal Levy High School Athlete of the Year award. They will be among the honorees at the dinner April 28 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.
Pearsall is a four-year starter for the Warriors in soccer, basketball and lacrosse. In 2012, she helped the basketball team reach the semifinals of the league tournament and the second round of the Class L state tournament. She earned all-league, all-state and all-America honors in lacrosse, when she compiled 130 points as Wilton reached the semifinals of the Class M tournament.
She earned first team All-State and all-league honors in soccer. She was also one of 12 national finalists for the Wendy’s High School Heisman award. She will continue her collegiate career in lacrosse at Notre Dame.
Among the other honorees from Fairfield County at the dinner will be Staples track and cross country coach Laddie Lawrence and Gary Liberatore, a former New Canaan High School basketball star. Liberatore lives in Norwalk and teaches in Stamford.
