WILTON, Conn. It was an amazing weekend for Wilton Youth Football. Six teams hosted semifinal games at the high school and all six won.
In the third grade, the two top seeds were Wilton Blue and Wilton White. Both took on New Canaan squads, and both came from behind to win. The White team went for two with 40 seconds left to play to win 14-13 in an incredible game. Blue won 25-12. For the first time in Wilton history, the third-graders are co-champions.
The same scenario played out for the fourth-graders, with the two Wilton teams also beating New Canaan teams to share the championship.
The other two games were fifth- and sixth-graders, and both those teams will play for the championship next weekend. Wilton High School teams may have struggled recently against teams like New Canaan, but Wilton is building a dynasty at the youth level.
