Wilton Winter Sports Kick Off Their Seasons

WILTON, Conn. — The winter sports season gets into full swing Wednesday for   Wilton High School teams. The boys basketball, boys ice hockey, wrestling and indoor track teams all start their season over the next week.

The boys basketball team kicks off the full winter slate of games at home against Fairfield Ludlowe at 7 p.m. The Wilton boys are trying to improve on a 2-18 campaign last season.

Girls basketball already got off to a red-hot start with two thrilling wins last week. It is the team's best start since 2004. The girls travel to Fairfield Ludlowe on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. game.

The wrestling team starts its season against Fairfield Warde on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Wilton Field House.

After dropping its season opener to Simsbury, the Wilton girls ice hockey team begins its conference schedule on Friday against defending champion New Canaan. The puck drops at Winter Garden Rink in Ridgefield at 4 p.m.

The boys and girls indoor track teams begin their seasons Saturday. They will participate in the "Reindeer Relay," held in the Wilton Field House at 9:30 a.m.

The boys ice hockey team is coming off its best season in six years after a trip to the Division II state semifinals. The Warriors face off against Newtown on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 7:40 p.m. at the Danbury Ice Arena.

The boys swimming and diving team and the gymnastics team begin their seasons in January.
