Wilton Girls Run Well at National Meet

WILTON, Conn. -- Brynn Parsons and Kafesha Thomas of Wilton both competed in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes at the New Balance Indoor Nationals for Emerging Elite athletes at The Amory in New York

Parsons finished in 11th place overall in the 60M in a personal record time of 7.91, just missing the finals by .02 seconds. The time was good enough for MileSplit to rank Parsons second in the event in Connecticut and third overall in New England during the 2012 indoor season. Thomas finished in 35th place in a time of 8.07, which ranks her  fourth in the state and seventh in New England.

In the 200M, Parsons also ran a personal record time of 26.06, which was good enough for 21st place. Thomas completed the 200M in 26.79 to place, once again, in 35th.   Their times were good enough to place Parsons third in Connecticut and seventh in New England and Thomas seventh in Connecticut and 18th in New England for the indoor season

“This is the second trip for Brynn and the third for Kafesha to the national scholastic meet and each year they have improved and showed they can compete at the highest levels with some of the best athletes in the U.S., as well as in New England,” coach Kevin Foley said.

Parsons and Thomas trained with the Connecticut Elite Track and Field Club based in Wilton during the winter. They will compete for Wilton High School in the spring.     Parsons will be running for Johns Hopkins University next year and Thomas still is in the process of making a choice between the University of Hartford, Temple University and Virginia Commonwealth University.
