WILTON, Conn. - In a rematch of last year's Class M state title game, the defending champion Wilton High boys' lacrosse team picked up right where it left off against New Canaan. Wilton was relentless on offense for more than half the game, as nine different Warriors found the net in a convincing 9-5 victory.
After a back-and-forth first quarter that ended tied, 2-2, the Warriors exploded for six goals in the quarter and headed into halftime with a commanding 8-2 lead. The ball hardly left the sticks of the Wilton offense for the rest of the game, as New Canaan struggled to clear its own zone in the second half.
Cole Rance, Matt Kobyra, Rob Keers, Alex Pagliaro, Chris Nugent, Sean Carroll, Michael Burns, Michael Slaughter and Gram Parsons all scored for Wilton. Conor Johnson finished with 10 saves in net for the Warriors.
Wilton (1-0) travels to Greenwich for an 11 a.m. game Saturday.
