WILTON, Conn. -- The previously undefeated Wilton Blue 5th grade boys lacrosse team travelled to Chatham, N.J. last weekend, along with an entourage of fans, parental boosters, and coaches, to face three strong squads. The boys lost their first two games to Chatham and Mountain Lakes, however, after inspiring speeches from coaches Brian Colburn and Chris Previte, the boys came back to defeat Summit.
The inspiring goal tending of Andrew Calabrese kept all three games close, with eight saves in the 1st, 14 saves in the 2nd, and 20 saves in the 3rd game. Thomas Costello, Dean DiNanno, Patrick Ciquera, Tyler Previte, Liam Sullivan, Tyler Zengo, and Jack Caty scored goals.
Faceoffs at midfield were dominated by Cole Barnes and Kyle Brody with middy support from Isaac Dierks, Jack Ferguson, Evan Harley, Reilly Bingaman, and Joey Seaman.
The defense was bolstered by strong play from Max Colburn, Billy Ronk, Drew Herlyn, and Aaron Kleeman.
Wilton Blue meets New Canaan Red on Saturday at 1, followed by a game at 2 against New Canaan Black. Both games are at Allens Meadows in Wilton.
