WILTON, Conn. The Wilton High girls swim team came out strong in Saturdays conference championship meet with a win in the opening 200-yard medley relay. KC Moss, one of the top-ranked under-18 breaststroke swimmers in the country, broke her own conference championship record and was named Swimmer of the Meet for the second straight year. It still was not enough, however, as Wilton finished third behind champion New Canaan and second-place Greenwich for the second year in a row.
Moss, her sister Kristen, Caroline OBrien and Stephanie Moriarty took first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:47.43. Moss won her first of two races in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:05.39. She smashed her own record in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.84, topping the second place finisher by almost four seconds.
Wilton was nipped by New Canaan in the 200-freestyle relay, cementing the Rams first-place finish. Moss, OBrien, Grace Hendee and Morgan Scarths second-place finish came in at 1:39.80. Hendee, Scarth, Moriarty and the younger Moss placed third in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 3:37.78.
Wilton will compete in the Class L state meet Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Wesleyan University and in the State Open on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Yale.
