Bees Edge Hooks for Wilton Double-A Championship

WILTON – The Au Pair in America Bees were crowned Wilton Little League AA champions Friday, edging the Realty Seven Inc Hooks, 5-2. Lewis Cropper provided a solid start on the mound and drove in a pair of runs to help secure the championship.

The Bees wasted little time getting to the Hooks, striking for a pair of runs in the top of the first. Cropper drove in Christian Eidt for the game’s first run on an RBI fielder’s choice. An infield single by Cole Snyder plated Patrick Cummins to extend the lead to 2-0.

Cropper dominated in 3 2/3 innings pitched on the mound, striking out seven. Eidt came on in relief to shut the door on the Hooks, picking up the save in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

The Bees extended their lead to 4-0 in the top of the fourth on an RBI double by Cropper and an RBI fielder’s choice by Snyder.

Three consecutive singles by Cristian Gualy, Ryan Vanderwall, and Johnny Shiller of the Hooks in the bottom of the fourth cut the Bees lead to 4-2.

Eidt came on in relief for the Bees to escape the jam. He helped his own cause with an RBI single in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Cropper capped his highlight reel night by leaping to snag a line drive at shortstop to end the game.
