Bandits Win in Wilton Little League on Walkoff HR

WILTON, Conn. – Hunter Kohler’s three-run home run gave the Bandits a 4-2 win over the Hot Rods in the opening game of an A Division contest in the Wilton Little League.

The Bandits are sponsored by My Way Auto Body. Roly Poly sponsors the Hot Rods.

Athena Marcell’s leadoff double and an RBI single by Brian Cipri gave the Hot Rods a 1-0 lead.

Both teams’ pitching was rock solid over all five innings. For the Bandits, John McMahon, Hunter Kohler and Jason Bivona kept the game close and combined for seven strikeouts, while the Rod’s rotation of Brian Cipri, Mack Kepner, Mikey Roberts and Cooper Rogg fanned nine.

Davis Cote’s RBI single put the Hot Rods up 2-0 in the fourth, but the Bandits got one back when Kyle Burns and Jason Bivona singled, followed by an RBI single from JB Russo.

The Bandits started a two-out rally in the fifth on a single by Will Jarvie, followed by Jack Tinnen’s single. Kohler slammed an inside fastball over the fence, giving the Bandits the dramatic win.

Sharp defensive skills were on display by both teams and included a force-out at the plate and a double play. Game contributions by Jake Lash, Robert Rios and Chris Jones for the Rods and Jack Hall, Jake Arnowitz, Henry Sell and Max Greenberg for the Bandits rounded out the teamwork.
