WILTON, Conn. Three Wilton Running Club boys won championships Sunday in the Connecticut Junior Olympics Cross Country state championships at White Memorial in Litchfield.
Tyler Zengo, Aaron Breene and Clint Corso won races for Wilton. They are now eligible to compete in the regional meet Sunday in Queensbury, N.Y.
Zengo won the Bantam Boys (10-and-under) race in 12:10.87 for 3 kilometers. Teammate Flynn Crowder was fifth in 12:59.69 and Davis Langhoff was ninth in 14:11.52.
Breene won the Midget Boys (ages 11-12) 3K race in 10:20.11. Teammate Ben Ruffing (11:43.91) was 16th in the race. In the Youth Boys (ages 13-14), Corso won in 14:23.34.
The top girls for Wilton were Elizabeth Wells (12th) and Juli Hergenrother (13th) in the Midget Girls race with Maddy Abrahamson placing 20th. Sarah Battipaglia was 13th in the Youth Girls race.
