A variety of homemade pies, quick breads, lemon pound cake, chicken pot pies and other items are available for purchase through this popular fundraiser, which is organized by the Wilton Warrior Music Boosters. Proceeds from the sale will help defray the cost of the Spring 2014 Adjudication Trip for the high school bands, orchestra and chorus.
“Each year, students involved in the Wilton High School Music Program attend a spring adjudication conference where their performances are judged by trained musicians,” said Liz Suchy, one of the fundraiser organizers. “It is an exciting event for the band, orchestra and chorus students and their teachers.”
This year, the students will head to New York in April to participate in a festival performance competition at the College of Staten Island. During the two-day trip, students will also enjoy fun activities, including a trip to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and dinner at Medieval Times Castle.
“The adjudication trip is not only a very enriching experience, it’s a wonderful way for the students to bond,” said Music Boosters President Dottie Jankowski. “It allows all students in the music program a chance to kick back, relax, have fun and feel more connected. It’s one thing they look forward.”
All orders for the Grandma Miller's Pies sale are due by Oct. 28. Order forms and more information are available online.
Another way students are raising money for the trip is through the Holiday Greenery sale. Until Friday, Nov. 15, residents can place orders for garland roping, decorated and undecorated wreaths, kissing balls and poinsettias. These items come directly from Maine and parts of Canada.
