During a community forum scheduled for Tuesday, residents will be able to let the board know what characteristics are desired in the next superintendent. The forum will begin at 7 p.m. in the Middlebrook School auditorium. Residents are also encouraged to complete the Superintendent Profile Survey, which is available on the district's website through Nov. 1.
A second forum specifically geared toward parents will be held Wednesday at Trackside Teen Center beginning at 9:30 a.m.
“We are conducting a series of forums and focus groups to gather input we believe will be helpful in identifying and hiring the next Superintendent of Schools,” board Chairman Bruce Likly told The Wilton Daily Voice.
“With these forums, the focus groups and the online survey, we are striving to make sure that every citizen in Wilton has at least two opportunities to provide their input into the process,” he added.
Schools Superintendent Gary Richards, who's led Wilton's schools since 2004, in August announced his intention to retire at the end of December. Not long after, the school board formed a Superintendent Search Committee, and earlier this month, selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates — an executive search firm that serves public school districts — to assist in the search for Richards’ replacement.
The information gathered during the public forums and the focus groups, Likly said, will help guide the board, the Search Committee and Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates in its selection process.
Middlebrook School is at 131 School Road and Trackside Teen Center is at 15 Station Road.
