Wilton Schools To Reopen On Wednesday

WILTON, Conn. – After more than a week of being closed following Hurricane Sandy, Wilton Public Schools will reopen on Wednesday, the schools administration announced Tuesday.

An announcement of the reopening was made on the district’s website on Tuesday. Superintendent Gary Richards said he would make a decision on reopening schools based on the safety of roads.

Many roads were closed in the days following last Monday’s storm because of trees and downed power lines. All Wilton schools remained shuttered since last Monday in anticipation of and in the aftermath of Sandy.

Because of a Nor’easter storm expected to hit Fairfield County on Wednesday, Wilton remains under a state of emergency. Town officials are asking residents to make preparations for the next storm.
