WILTON, Conn. More than 1,000 Wilton elementary school students have sent in pledges to read and gotten to dress up like Reading Rock Stars.
The Reading Rocks! program, a fundraiser for the Wilton Education Foundation, encourages students to read, by themselves or with parents.
Last week, the foundation tallied the forms that were already turned in and awarded Cider Mill Elementary Schools Nod Hill house a free pass for no homework. First-graders at Miller-Driscoll Elementary School won an extra recess for their number of forms.
Kids have until Wednesday, April 11, to turn in their pledges to teachers. They then have from April 25 to May 6 to reach their reading goals.
One child at Miller-Driscoll and one at Cider Mill will also have an opportunity to win a Kindle Fire.
