WILTON, Conn. The Wilton High School Challenge team has moved another step toward its goal of winning the Tri-State Academic Championship.
The team, consisting of seniors William Jankopwski, Mohsin Jawed, Captain Simon Brewer, freshman Molly Hoch and alternate junior John Jankowski, is set to go against Greens Farms Academy on April 24. The challenge will be shown on Cablevisions iO channel 14.
MSG Varsity Challenge is hosted by former American Idol competitor Jared Cotter, who quizzes teams on history, current events, math, science, arts and literature in front of a live studio audience.
The intensity is rising as we enter the regional semi-finals of The Challenge, said Theresa Chillianis, MSG Varsitys general manager. We couldnt be happier with the level of competition displayed in the matches, not to mention the overwhelming support the teams have received from their schools and communities.
Participating schools advance through a series of elimination rounds, with one school in each region being crowned champion and winning $2,500 for their school. The winning teams from each region go on to The Challenge Championship, where they square off in a Tri-State Showdown.
The school awarded the title of Tri-State Champion will receive $10,000 in prize money and each student participating in the final Challenge Championship game will receive $500.
