WILTON, Conn. Bring in the summer with a 5K, or if youre not a runner, cheer on those who are as they take part in the Get Smart for Wilton fundraiser Sunday.
The Wilton Education Foundations fourth annual run helps pay for technology for the schools. Some 300 runners are expected for the event, which starts on the Wilton High School track and goes by both Cider Mill Elementary School and the high school before making its way back to the track.
All are welcome to participate, from marathon runners to strollers. Family members, friends, neighbors and peers are welcome to cheer the runners cheer on.
"I am so proud of the generous support the Get Smart for Wilton 5K receives from the community, said Kacky Theoharides, one of the SOL?? Sisters, who are chairing the event. The highly impressive number of participants coupled with the involvement and support of Wilton businesses truly makes this event special. Clearly, we all have a shared commitment of bettering Wilton schools.
Cash prizes will be given to the top three male and female runners, and awards will go to the top three runners in each division. The cost is $20 per entrant. Participants get a T-shirt, a bagel and the opportunity to run, catch up with friends and raise money for Wilton's four public schools. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9.
