After experiencing a fall in City Hall, Stamford Mayor David Martin is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a torn tendon.

While meeting with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown in City Hall, Martin fell down a set of stairs and ruptured the quadriceps tendon in his right knee on Wednesday, June 19, officials say.

As a result, Martin will undergo surgery to repair the tendon and will be unavailable for public appearances until Monday, July 8.

All previously scheduled public appearances prior to this date have been canceled, however, Chief of Staff Michael Pollard may represent the City in Martin’s place.

While quadriceps tendon ruptures are considered uncommon, they are not classified as a severe injury. Officials say Martin will continue to work from home and will be available via phone and email throughout his recovery.
