WILTON, Conn., -- A woman confessed to officers that she lied about her name during a traffic stop Monday evening because she knew there was a warrant for her arrest in Bridgeport from six years ago, Wilton Police said.

Wilton officers stopped a driver at about 7 p.m. on Danbury Road for failing to display a front license plate on her vehicle, police said. She told the officer she had forgotten her driver's license as she verbally identified herself, police said.

However, officers detected the odor of marijuana and during a search of the vehicle discovered a small amount of pot, police said. Police said the driver confessed she gave officers her sister's name. She told police there was an arrest warrant for her out of Bridgeport in connection with a disorderly conduct charge from 2010.

Angel Thompson, 29, of 143 Ash St., Bridgeport, was charged with one count each of criminal impersonation, interfering with an officer, possession of marijuana, second-degree fail to appear in court and fail to display license plate.

Total bond was set at $25,000 which she posted and she was given a court date of July 21.
