Following a several-months-long investigation, Wilton Police arrested a West Haven woman for being the getaway driver in a cash station burglary last year.
Alicia Sheremeta, 30, of 98 Brown St., was arrested Monday and charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal mischief, larceny and other charges in connection with the Dec. 19, 2017, burglary of the Gulf Gas Station on Danbury Road in Wilton, said Lt. Robert Kluk.
During the burglary, officers found that the glass door had been shattered and the cash drawer and cigarettes had been taken. The total amount taken was $400 in cash and $125 in cigarettes, Kluk said.
The total damage to the building was estimated at $700.
After reviewing the video, it showed a man smashing the glass with a hammer, taking the cash and drawer and cigarettes and then running out of the business to a waiting car driven by Sheremeta, Kluk said.
Police were able to identify Sheremeta and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
After being charged, Sheremeta was released on $50,000 bond. Additional arrests are pending.
