WILTON, Conn. In an effort to keep drunken drivers off the roads, the Wilton Police Department will set up a sobriety checkpoint one weekend next month.
The checkpoint will be set up Sept. 8 and extend into the morning of Sept. 9 on Danbury Road, better known as Route 7. Signs will be posted in the area of the checkpoint, and a number of officers will participate, police said.
Wilton police received a grant to cover 75 percent of the cost for the officers at the checkpoint.
