Wilton Police Officers Honored At Awards Ceremony

WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton Police Department held its annual awards ceremony on Monday, March 14, at Tracksides Teen Center. 

The Wilton Police Department held their annual awards ceremony earlier this week to honor employees, including Officer John Godfrey who was named Officer of the Year. An award was also presented to the family of the late Sgt. Thomas "TJ" Tunney.

Sponsored by the Wilton Rotary Club, Chief Robert Crosby presented several awards including to OfficerJohn Godfrey, who was presented the Officer of the Year award.

Godfrey, who has been with Wilton’s police force since 1986, is the current Records Officer for the department.

The late Sgt. Thomas "TJ" Tunney was awarded the Community Police Officer of the Year award. This award was created in his honor and was presented to members of his family. Tunney died on Jan. 3.

Other awards presented included: Medal of Honor, Medal of Valor, Meritorious Police Service, Emergency Medical Service and Citation of Commendation.
