WILTON, Conn. - Wilton police were called to a home on Danbury Road on Friday afternoon, after neighbors called to report that two children were playing unsupervised in a grassy area by the Avalon Complex.
When an officer arrived, he saw an 8- and 6-year-old were playing near the street by the complex, police said. Neighbors told the officer that they had seen the mother get into a car and leave, police said.
Police found the mother, identified as Lin Vaccaro, 46 of Wilton, a short time later. She was reportedly going to Walmart to shop, police said.
Vaccaro was released on a written promise to appear in court on Sept. 28 after being charged with leaving children in a public place unsupervised.
