WILTON, Conn. A Danbury man was arrested in connection with a Freshwater Lane forced-entry burglary in which $50,000 in jewelry and electronics was stolen, Wilton police said.
Andre Genest, 44, of 214 Brushy Hill Road, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and charged with first-degree larceny and third-degree burglary, both felonies, police said.
Wilton police stopped Genest while he driving on Chestnut Hill Road at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. The forced entry on Freshwater Lane was reported Sept. 10, police said. A safe containing $50,000 in valuables was stolen from a bedroom closet, police said. Camera and computer equipment was also taken, police had said previously.
While processing Genest, police said the state parole department determined he was in violation of his parole. Genest was immediately remanded to custody and held until his arraignment Wednesday in Norwalk Superior Court. According to state court records, Genest was held on $25,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.
The investigation was continuing, Wilton police Capt. John Lynch said. He did not know whether more arrests would be made or whether Genest would face more charges.
