WILTON, Conn. — Three years after two alleged accomplices were arrested, a New York City woman was charged in connection with an attempt to cash a forged check, Wilton Police said.

Allison Arthurs, 46, of 3800 Carpenter Ave., the Bronx, was charged with second-degree forgery, fourth-degree criminal attempt at larceny and fourth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny. Police said the woman is incarcerated on unrelated charges and was charged Monday and arraigned in court the same day.

In November 2013, First Niagara Bank employees called police after a woman tried to cash a check of about $1,000 at the branch at 30 Danbury Road, police said. Employees were able to give police information on the vehicle that the woman left the scene in.

A short time later, an officer stopped a suspicious vehicle on Route 7 near the Norwalk line, police said at the time.

Inside the car were Bronx resident Christopher Coombs, 20, and Fianna Lee, 21, of Manhattan, police said. The two told police that a third person — who police alleged is Arthurs — went inside the bank to try to cash the check and then left in a different vehicle.

Officers searched the vehicle due to an odor of marijuana, the police report says. Numerous fraudulent checks and debit cards were found inside the vehicle, police say. Officers also found a small amount of marijuana and a marijuana grinder, the report says.

Coombs and Lee were taken into custody at the time and charged with second-degree forgery and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny. Coombs was additionally charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
