Teen Involved In Wilton Hit-Run Crash Reversed, Hit Driver On Purpose, Police Say

An area teen who allegedly hit the back of a vehicle is said to have backed-up and struck the driver when he got out of his vehicle to confront him.

A 17-year-old allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash deliberately backed up and hit the driver of the vehicle he rear-ended.

The incident took place in Fairfield County around 5:52 p.m., Saturday, May 16 on Drum Hill Road in Wilton, said Wilton Police Lt. Robert Kluk.

According to Kluk, the driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on Drum Hill Road when the teen, driving a 2010 Acura RDX at a high rate of speed, lightly struck the rear of the Tahoe.

When the driver of the Tahoe, Jason Lord, 42, of Wilton, got out of his vehicle to talk to the teen, the 17-year-old Norwalk resident allegedly quickly reversed about 10 feet, then quickly drove forward, striking and injuring Lord, Kluk said.

The teen then fled the area, police said.

A witness, Darren O'Meara, 41, Wilton who was approaching the scene from behind saw the incident and gave Lord his cell phone to call for help.

O'Meara then continued north where he saw the teen's vehicle pulled to the side of the road on. Bald Hill Road, Kluk said.

He then took a picture of the vehicle and the occupants, along with the license plate.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested the teen and charged him with:

Evading responsibility with physical injury
Reckless driving
Following too closely resulting in an accident
Operating a vehicle without a driver's license

He was booked and processed and released to his father on a promise to appear and is expected to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Wednesday, June 3.
