New Canaan Police say a driver was observed traveling northbound on New Norwalk Road on Friday, Nov. 22 around 11:55 p.m.
The driver allegedly drifted over the yellow center line and started to travel northbound in the southbound lane, according to police.
The vehicle came to an almost complete stop as the driver attempted to turn left onto East Avenue from New Norwalk Road despite the fact that there was a green light and no opposing traffic, police say.
A motor vehicle stop was initiated, and police say signs of impairment were detected on the driver, identified as Cory McDougall, 32, of Norwalk.
McDougall was subsequently asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say she did not pass.
McDougall was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing, where police say she refused to submit to a breath test.
McDougall was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol as well as traffic violations. She was released after posting a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 5.
