Head-On Crash Leads To Hours-Long Route 7 Closure In Wilton

A stretch of Route 7 was closed for four hours Friday morning following a serious two-vehicle head-on crash.

The northbound closure occurred just north of Wilton High School between Olmstead Hill Road and Route 107/Route 57/School Street.

The roadway reopened around 11 a.m. following an accident investigation.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. in New Street. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles by the Georgetown Fire Department and were transported to Norwalk Hospital with injuries, Wilton Police said.

A 2000 Chevy Cavalier driven by Dominick Richards, 28, of Stamford was traveling south on Danbury Road when the vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a 2011 Chevy Malibu operated by Dorene Suggs, 55, of Norwalk, Wilton Police said.
