According to state police, at approximately 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, a Good Samaritan in Bethpage spotted an occupant of a BMW taking an envelope from a mailbox at a neighbor’s home.

The neighbor proceeded to follow the BMW onto the Southern State Parkway while staying on the line with State Police to provide the location of the driver.

Police said that troopers ultimately stopped the driver on the parkway near exit 41N in Islip.

The investigation into the alleged stolen mail determined that Luis Garcia, 29, and Frailin Guzman, 28, both of the Bronx, were in possession of a stolen credit card that didn’t belong to either of them.

Both Guzman and Garcia were arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Both were released and scheduled to appear in Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
