WILTON, Conn. -- As southwestern Connecticut prepares for the upcoming winter storm, Wilton police are advising residents to stay off the roads to allow crews to clear them faster.

Police are also advising residents to remember the dangers of exposure to the cold weather and with shoveling heavy snow.

Police are asking those who need to report problems with utilities to call their providers directly, since local emergency services do not handle such matters unless imminent life-threatening issues exist.

For phone difficulties with Frontier Communications services, call 844-484-1065. For Cablevision Optimum, including phone, Internet, and cable services, call 203-870-2583. For power problems, call Eversource at 800-286-2000.

The Police Department cannot expedite reports to these agencies.
