Ramsey was charged in May 2012 in the death of his 73-year-old father, Edward, in their Wilton home. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity in December.

“The state has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Ramsey caused the death of one Edward Ramsey,” Judge Richard Comerford said from the ruling in December. “At the time of the killing of his father, he had marked delusional thinking and command hallucinations. At said time, the defendant was in an acute psychotic condition.”

At the December hearing, Ramsey was also found not guilty of third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny by reason of insanity.

He will serve the sentence at Whiting Forensic Facility in Middletown.
