WILTON, Conn. - Sister Kathleen Wahl, SSND, of Wilton died July 6. She was 82.
Sr. Wahl was born May 25, 1931, in Boston, Mass. After pronouncing her vows in 1953, she began teaching at Most Holy Name School in Pittsburgh, Pa., Catholic Schools in Brooklyn and Rochester, N.Y. and at St. Gregory the Great School in Danbury. She also taught at Christ the King School and Bishop Juwle High School, both in Zwedru, Liberia and at Notre Dame Secondary School in Sunyani, Ghana. She was on the staff of St. Vincent's Services and volunteered at Methodist Hospital, both in Brooklyn, N.Y. She retired to Lourdes Health Care Center in 2013.
Sr. Wahl is survived by her nieces and nephews; family; friends; and her community, the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
Calling hours are Tuesday, July 8 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Villa Notre Dame, 345 Belden Hill Road, in Wilton, with a Christian Wake Service at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10 in the Chapel at Villa Notre Dame.
